It is the mission of the Computer Literacy Department to foster excitement, confidence and competence in developing computer skills, while also developing self-sufficient users who can communicate, create, and analyze ideas using digital technologies. The goals of the department include increasing each student's awareness of her potential and her interest in pursuing computer science and other computer-related fields. Our courses build skills while enabling our students to see computers as tools for risk-taking and problem-solving, whether in writing a computer program, creating digital images, building a web site, or laying out a print publication such as the school yearbook, literary magazine, and newspaper. By the time a student graduates, we expect competency and awareness in the use and~processes~of different technologies.
